Frequently asked questions

Everything worth knowing about an eSIM abroad — before you buy, while you install, and mid-trip. The answers here are accurate, even when they're inconvenient. Didn't find it? We're here.

Before you buy

What it actually is, and what's right for you

An eSIM is a digital SIM card that installs on your device with no physical card at all. After you buy, you get a QR code to scan, alongside manual installation details for devices that can't scan a QR. The profile is stored on the device and connects to a local network at your destination.

Your device needs to support eSIM and must not be locked to a mobile operator. Most devices from the last few years do support it, but not all of them. You can check in your device settings — if there's an option to add an eSIM or a mobile plan, your device supports eSIM. Network locking is a separate matter, so it's worth confirming with your operator that the device is unlocked.

The plans we sell are data plans, and they don't include a local phone number for calls or SMS. You can call and message through apps that work over a data connection. If you specifically need calls or SMS on the mobile network, get in touch before you buy and we'll look into it for you.

In most plans yes, but it depends on the plan and on the device. Every plan card shows the line Hotspot with the value supported or not supported, so you can check before you buy rather than after. If you are planning to connect a laptop or a fellow traveller, that is a check worth making before you pay.

Every plan card shows the data allowance, the validity, the price in shekels, and the features that vary from plan to plan: the supported connection (5G, for instance), Hotspot and Top-up. These are not universal — they are set per plan, which is why the card is the binding source and not a general assumption.

Right after payment we put the QR code and the activation instructions in your inbox. The same details are in your account, under My eSIMs, together with one-tap install buttons for iPhone and Android and manual install details you can copy. No shipping, no waiting for the post, no physical card.

Installation and activation

When to install, when validity starts, and what happens along the way

We recommend installing before you travel, while you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. On most plans the installation itself doesn't start the validity period — but it varies by plan, so check when validity begins in the details of the plan you bought.

On most plans validity starts with your first connection to a network at the destination, not at the moment of purchase. Every plan states exactly when validity begins, so it's worth confirming on the plan card before you buy.

The simplest way is to scan the QR code you received, or tap the iPhone or Android install button in your account — open that button on the device you'll be using the plan on. If your device can't scan a QR, you can install manually using the details listed under your eSIM: SM-DP+ address, activation code, ICCID and APN, each with a copy button. Once installed, make sure data roaming is switched on for the eSIM line and that it's set as your active data line.

In most cases the order completes within minutes. If the supplier is still processing it, we keep checking in the background and the status updates in your account. If something gets stuck, the order goes to a human on our side rather than being left hanging — an order that was paid for but never produced an eSIM always reaches us for review.

No. The issuing process is built so that retrying the same order never issues a second eSIM. If you think you've been charged twice, get in touch with your order number and we'll go through the charge with you.

While you're travelling

What to do once you're there

Check that data roaming is switched on for the eSIM plan and that it's set as your active data line. Sometimes picking a local network manually in your device settings sorts it out too. If that doesn't help, our support team is on hand and will help you.

Yes. WhatsApp and Telegram run over the data connection, so they keep working with your eSIM. Your Israeli number stays reachable for calls and SMS only as long as your original SIM card is still installed in the device and active.

You can leave it installed and active so you carry on receiving calls and SMS on your Israeli number. To avoid using data on it by accident, turn data roaming off on the Israeli line and leave it on only for the eSIM line. That way your browsing goes through the plan you bought, and your Israeli number stays reachable.

When the supplier returns structured usage data, we show it to you under My eSIMs alongside the original allowance. It updates with a slight delay rather than in real time, so treat it as a good indication and not an exact reading. Not every plan has a supplier that provides usage data.

Only on plans that are marked for it. The plan card shows the line Top-up: available — if it is not there, the plan does not support top-ups.

When a top-up is possible, the data is added to the eSIM already installed on your device: no new QR code and no reinstalling. There's no self-service top-up button on the site — we arrange it with the supplier, so just get in touch. On plans that don't support topping up, the way to carry on browsing is to buy a new plan.

No. An eSIM profile deleted from the device can't be reinstalled, so deleting it may cost you whatever data is left on the plan. Best not to delete the profile while the plan is still valid, even if you aren't using it right now.

If it's already happened, get in touch with your order number and we'll check with the supplier what can be done — with no promises up front.

The eSIM profile is installed on one particular device, and moving it to another means reinstalling — which the same QR code can't do. If you're unsure which device to install on, install on the one you're flying with, and don't install just to try it out.

Payment, cancellations and refunds

What can be cancelled, when, and on what terms

Payment is handled by a payment processor, and your card details are never stored with us. The eSIM details themselves — the QR code, the activation code and the ICCID — are stored encrypted on our side, and revealed only to the owner of the order.

Prices on the site are shown in shekels, on the plan card and in the cart alike, so you see the amount before you pay and not after.

You can ask for a cancellation and refund as long as the eSIM hasn't been installed or used. In practice we check with the supplier whether the order qualifies for a refund and what handling fee it charges, then come back to you with the answer and the amount before anything is done.

We only process the refund after you have explicitly approved it, because once it has gone through with the supplier it cannot be undone. Full details are in the Refund Policy.

An eSIM that has been installed, activated or used can't be returned and can't be reissued — a profile that has been issued can't be undone after the fact. That's why we recommend installing before you travel, but only once you're sure you've bought the right plan.

An order that was paid for but produced no installable eSIM counts here as a failure, not a delivery, and goes automatically to human review. In that case you get your money back.

Nothing on this page takes away rights the law gives you. Cancelling a purchase because a product is faulty or does not match what you were sold is always open to you. That said, for a digital product delivered electronically, the statutory right to cancel simply because you changed your mind does not apply once it has been delivered — see the Terms page.

My account and support
